Books I'm Reading #1

This year, one of my main resolution was to read more and oh my god have I ever read this much in my whole life. I am not sure how exactly it happened but I already read 25 books this year which is more than I’d read in maybe 2 years. I’ve been taking advantage of the book sharing system set up in my area and have read some many different types of book I was not used to. It’s definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone and opened up my mind when it comes to literature. Enough rambling, here are some of the books I’ve read this year so far.

NON-FICTION

Atomic Habits - James Clear

Such a great self-help read. I really enjoyed it and has so many great takeaways and concrete methods on how to remove, pursue or adopt habits out/into our lives. Highly recommend!

The Four Agreements - Don Miguel Ruiz

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

This one was on my list for the longest time and it did not disappoint. As easy great read and a must for anyone I’d say.

The Fifth Agreement - Don Miguel Ruiz

★ ★

I had such high hopes of this one after reading The Mastery of Love and The Four Agreements (which I loved) by the same author. Unfortunately, the first part of this book is just a repetition of The Four Agreements and it felt really redundant. The fifth agreement shared in this book also doesn’t feel worthwhile sharing a whole book about it as it is quite logical and common sense in my opinion.

The Art of Intimacy The Pleasure of Passion - Mel Schwartz

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

A really nice book about soulful love and relationships. It was easy to read and well structured. Filled with relatable stories to illustrate the author’s thoughts and theory.

FICTION

The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

★ ★ ★

I guess I had too high expectations for this one since everyone was raving about it. I could not really get into it for some reason. It’s still a great novel and story with meaningful takeaways and I’d recommend anyone to read it to make their own mind about it.

The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

First thriller I read this year and maybe even in my whole life so I have little to compare it to. However, I really enjoyed it! It was fast paced, with some short chapters and the story being told through the three main female characters.

Delicacy - David Foenkinos

★ ★ ★ ★

Such a gentle and sweet read! Really liked it and the movie as well.

Into The Wild - Jon Krakauer

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Was completely swept into this real story book. It feels like a documentary with lots of testimonials and some letters. I really enjoyed this adventure and would recommend it 100%.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time - Mark Haddon

★ ★ ★ ★

I’ve always been fascinated by the topic of Autism and really enjoyed the way this book was written. I can’t say I was deeply into the story to the point I couldn’t put the book down, however, it was a really great read and highly recommend it. If you’d like to read more about Autism I really loved I Was Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet.
