Bali Retreats: 3 Unique Resorts for Self-Care

We usually wait way too long before we give ourselves a break and then, all we want to do on holiday is sleep, relax and sleep some more. While in Bali, we visited three very unique places that I thought were so great for some self-care time.

Fivelements Retreat

So I’m not going to pretend this place is accessible to anyone, it’s definitely expensive and directed towards a certain demographics. However, if you do have the budget for it, it won’t disappoint. The center is located 30 minutes outside of Ubud, in the middle of nature. There is a river passing by and all you will hear while there is wild insects and the sound of water. Fivelements offers a large selection of treatments & massages, it’s the perfect place to treat yourself to a body scrub and infused bath. We did this with David along with an traditional Balinese oil massage and we came out with baby skin and a relaxed mind. If you’d like a little detox time, this is also the right place as the restaurant menu is all plant-based, including raw food dishes. Finally, the rooms are absolutely wonderful. We had a private pool and the biggest bed we’d ever slept in. Fivelements conciliate closeness to nature with luxurious comfort and we enjoyed every second of our time there.

Bali Eco Stay

This next place is so unique and far from the touristy Bali. We highly recommend it if you want to get really close to nature, reconnect with yourself and eat food that comes straight from the Earth. Bali Eco Stay is located in Tabanan region, in the mountains of Bali. All bungalows are really open and offer a beautiful view to the jungle and the ocean. As much as we loved being in the middle of nature, I personally would not recommend this place to anyone who is uncomfortable having insects in the room. Bali Eco Stay has a garden which produces up to 75% of their menu. I found so amazing that this place grew most of its foods and even took part in a garden tour. There are fruit trees everywhere at Bali Eco Stay and surroundings, more than I had ever seen in my life. There is a natural spring river along with a waterfall on the property where you can go and swim, however, there isn’t any pools. Finally, there is a yoga studio along with a few beautiful trails to go run or walk in the middle of nature. Such a gorgeous place to read books, meditate and get grounded.

Shunyata Villas Bali

Our favorite of all three places and an excellent value for money in our opinion. Shunyata Villas Bali combines calmness, comfort and luxury all at once. It’s located in Seraya, on the East coast of Bali. The villas offer private pool with ocean view and so does the restaurant terrace. The rooms are spacious, modern and sparkling clean. Waking up to the sound of ocean waves at sunrise was the best part, along with the delightful foods the chefs cooked for us. Every single meal, including the floating breakfast, we had at Shunyata was so flavourful, healthy and nourishing. It was probably the best food we had in our whole Bali trip. The place also offers traditional massages and treatments. We could have stayed there for a whole week and really would have loved to stay longer. We will be back for sure!
